Chub

Post by TimOH »

The Chub is not a native species so someone brought breeding age fish from the UK or Europe and released them in the River Inny. First reports seem to be the early 00's after which IFI elecrofished for them and caught a few. They radio tagged some and released them to monitor their movement later catching those and a few more followed by declaring at a European conference that they'd eliminated the Chub.

Considering the one I caught was less than 200mm or 8 inches either IFI was optimistic or someone reintroduced them.
