Re: European Sea Bass
I'v been thinking of going bass fishing seeing as I'm finding it hard to get the time for the kayak. I was thinking of lure fishing off of crosshaven, like camden or something as its so close to home. What sort of tactics should I be using, and what are the best times (in relation to tides and moons). thanks

Re: European Sea Bass
Welcome to bass fishing, it might leave you frustrated or with a big smug smile in your face.
Most productive times for me would be before sun rise and during/after sunset up to 2 hours. Tides it really depends on the area, some places i only fish on the ebb others it works both ways, (don't know how Crosshaven works specifically)( i prefer fishing the 2/3 first hours of the tides, but nothing set to stone).
Areas to fish - Estuaries; beach with a bit of Surf; rocky areas with loads of algae.
Rods - i always carry a 2,7m and a 3m rod, ( 10g to 60g and a 7g to 28g)
Lures - Well.... i wish i could have a shed full of them
... but for me there are tree things that have worked really well were i fish:
- White senkos at night (they also work during the day)
- Hard lures with "Cotton Candy" pattern
- Red Gill's
My 2 cents

Or as they say here in leafy suburbs of Tallaght - holy lantern jaysus!

The Pike Whisperer, in fact I whisper so quietly, they can't hear me!
